Once acquired, imported metal objects could be incorporated into local cultural practices and adapted to suit specific ceremonial requirements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The present example is believed to have originated as a traded bell before being modified later for use by a Dayak shaman in ritual and healing practices. Its rounded, lotus-bud-like body is distinguished by pronounced petal-shaped motifs, incised outlines and carefully contoured reliefs. The textured surface and decorative treatment suggest deliberate secondary working, potentially intended to transform the bell&#8217;s appearance and adapt it to its new cultural context.<\/p>\n<p>The contrast between its apparent trade-object origins and subsequent indigenous modification is particularly compelling.
