Group of Anthropomorphic Figures
Southeast Asia, Indonesia
Mid–late 20th century (estimated)

This assemblage comprises three small anthropomorphic figures presented on individual mounts. The two flanking figures are cast in metal, displaying a naturally aged surface with greenish patination consistent with prolonged oxidation. Each adopts a highly stylized human form with elongated limbs, simplified torsos, and expressive facial features. Their postures—one with raised hands framing the head and the other in a crouched stance with extended arms—suggest ritualized or symbolic gestures rather than naturalistic representation.

At the center stands a smaller carved wooden figure, vertically oriented and more compact in proportion. Its restrained posture, with arms held close to the body, contrasts with the dynamic stances of the metal figures. The smooth surface and warm tonality indicate age and handling, possibly reflecting use as a personal or devotional object.

Together, the figures evoke themes of ancestral presence, spirit representation, or ritual symbolism commonly found in indigenous art traditions of Southeast Asia. The deliberate abstraction, emphasis on gesture, and variation in material underscore their cultural and symbolic significance rather than decorative intent.
