An extraordinary and expressive Dayak Ketungau ceremonial dance mask from West Kalimantan. Carved from a single piece of native light wood, this piece displays the captivating, expressive sculptural asymmetry unique to tribal ritual masks of the region.

The face features bold, stylized facial carving with prominent brow ridges, exaggerated open-mouthed expression showing individually carved teeth, and sweeping cheek panels accented in traditional earth pigments. The crown and face are painted with natural dark brown, terracotta red, and white kaolin clay tones.

The reverse side reveals authentic hand-carved adze/chisel texture across the hollowed back, displaying clear signs of age and handling.

The eye slits are pierced for performance.
