Borneo Dayak Iban Maternity Guardian Figure

Iban Tribes are very superstitious in their animistic belief. Such carving are place during maternity care as it is belief that it will protect the mother and it baby during delivery.

The figure represent and ancestor praying with it hands together and siting on a snake with it back carrying an crocodile baya  by the iban. The baya represents strength, wisdom and fertility.
