Cowrie shells are one of the oldest currency used by man. Each shell is cut into precise measurements and are accounted for before they are use. Cowrie shells were use for trade and for ceremonial payment such as dowry, purchase of property and for ceremonial  payments between village. As they accumulate cowries they are tied into rings and loop for easy storage. This ring has 20 band of cut cowrie with the smallest ring consist of 57 shell and the biggest loop consist of 98 pc totaling to estimate 1560 pc of cowrie. Each cowrie are carefully tied onto each loop and crates 20 bands of highly valued ring.
