Dayak Iban Rice Basket ‘sintong’ With Unique Shape

A special Iban sintong used for carrying rice. Decorated sintongs are used for rice planting, when there are small ceremonies before the dibbling begins and the undecorated ones are to honour the rice spirits and the deity of the earth Pulang Gana whose presences are imprecated. (Michael Heppell 2014).

Condition – a small hole on the base probably from mouse bite. Sold as is.
