Dayak Shield Kliau

This shield is collected from the dayak tribes of east Borneo. It was used for the worrier dance also known as the ngajat. The dayak call this shiled ‘Kliau’ and is made of a special light wood called pelaik.

The motif on the shield is a verity of Aso with 2 aso on the top a family of 4 aso on the left and the right which creates a mask also known as udo the war lord with a intimidating feature and 2 more aso at the bottom end painted.
