Borneo Dayak Monkey Dance Mask

This Borneo mask showing a monkey with a gecko in its mouth is a very rare style from the land Dayak of western Borneo. It is used during festival and representing a monkey spirit. Made of light wood with carbon black, painted in white face and black dots on its eye browns and nose biting on a yellow gecko with red dot which looks like a leopard gecko. Dayak Believe such gecko are consider auspicious.
