Old Dayak Bahau Hampatong Ancestor Figure

This fine carving from the Bahau tribe of Borneo are used as house guardian. Carved out of the hardest wood from borneo call the belian. The wood has an metal look with shiny polish due to refine finishing which function as a reflector . The Dayak would place this in their long house normally facing the main door for guardiancy and protection.
