Old Sarawak Boat Carving With Human And Dog Pet in Ironwood

This Carving Work is made in the 60s when Sarawak was first establish by kenyah kayan artisan from Sungai Baleh. This Carving represents an paddler with its pet dog on a traditional dayak canoe. Made from local ironwood this piece is carved in a single wood. Due to the density of ironwood, such carving were very difficult to work with especially with such fine details while the kenyah kayan only work with traditional tools. Each piece is one of a kind as they were hand carved.
